Love came smiling on white cherry blossoms
Swinging on dainty westerly clouds
Spotting and picking on young loving hearts
The sun pushed aside its beaming pumpkin cart
To deepen the sky to a romantic grey
It is the season for love to unfold
It is the season for lovers to hold hands and walk the original mile
Slowly the tepid dew drops moistened the eyelashes
Fluttering in amazement to the new raw tune
Slowly love drizzled, lazy and coy
Tickling young lovers feeling shy
The warm countryside wore a moist hued green
The westerlies whistled past caressing the hearts
Darkening clouds engaged with the blue tide
The palms and sand and shells beside
Deeper and deeper love filled up their lives
Hearts beat faster in tandem with thunder
Thunder in their loins as the evening grew darker
The passion in their hearts glowed orange embers
Splashing streams of water and fire on the street
Such is the marvel of the gushing ‘ Shanichari’
It will drench all lives and quench all souls
With love abundance and beauty untold
Once begun it will rain night and day
It may pretend to let up but never go away
When it gets too gloomy in continuous rain
After exactly a fortnight the sun shines again
The lakes fill up and the rivers too
Men and women warm up to an energy new
The mark of the living legend the
‘ Shanichari’
The ‘Shanichari or Shaniwar ki jhadi’ is during monsoon if it starts to pour on a Saturday it pours non stop for a fortnight, after which the sun is unusually bright.
